Fiberfrax® Refractory ceramic fibers are a family of high temperature fibers designed to be used in a variety of industrial and commercial applications. Manufactured from alumina-silica materials these fibers offer such characteristics as high temperature stability, low thermal conductivity, low heat storage, excellent thermal shock resistance, light weight, and superior corrosion resistance. Fiberfrax Refractory ceramic fibers exhibit thermal stability at temperatures up to 1260°C (2300°F). Fiberfrax fibers offer:

  • High-temperature stability
  • Low coefficient of thermal expansion
  • Low thermal conductivity
  • Low heat storage
  • Excellent thermal shock resistance
  • Lightweight
  • Flexural reinforcement
  • Superior chemical resistance
  • Very low moisture absorption

Fiberfrax high-index fibers can be used as a mechanical thixotrope offering reinforcement and fire resistance in coatings applications such as:

  • Epoxy coatings
  • Poured flooring
  • Caulks, putties, and sealants
  • Mastics
  • Adhesives
  • Fire protective materials
